Why split your life into folders?

You don't live in categories, so why journal in them? StoryPad is designed for how you actually live - with a unified, chronological flow that brings everything together: thoughts, todos, memories, and more. Just write - we'll handle the rest.

Great app, been using it for years. Love how the update handles multiple page files. Took a while to adjust to new layout but worth it.

I love the app, and I highly recommend it for those looking for a simple and easy place to write, organize, and save their notes. It's probably the most secure app in terms of privacy, too. Keep up the good work!

Got questions?

1. Is it free to use?

Yes! All the core features you use now will always be free, with no ads. We plan to offer premium features for paid users in the future, but core features will remain free & ad-free.

2. What makes StoryPad different from other journal apps?

StoryPad isn't just for journaling. It's designed for daily life - whether you're journaling, writing a story, or reflecting on your day. We didn't copy other apps; we built it from the ground up to be flexible, minimal, and personal.

3. Why are there multiple editors inside one note / entry?

Each note in StoryPad can have multiple pages. You can choose between two layouts: “list” for quick journaling with prompts, or “pages” for deeper writing like stories or poems. With multi-page support, you can easily reorder or delete pages, and build a more structured story.

4. Does StoryPad support rich text editing?

Yes, it does! StoryPad offers a clean, powerful editor with rich text features like bold, italics, underline, text color, checklists, and images - all designed to help you write without distractions.

5. Can I insert images?

Yes. You can add images without compression. Your photos keep their original quality, including metadata like the capture date & location.

6. Can I use it on multiple devices?

Yes. Your data is stored locally on each device for privacy. When you choose to back up or sync, StoryPad saves directly to your private Google Drive - no cloud servers or accounts involved. To sync between devices, just tap “sync” on one device, then tap “sync” on the other. StoryPad will automatically download the latest version of your stories. If you edit the same entry on both devices before syncing, it will keep the most recent version to avoid conflicts.

7. Can I export locally?

Yes. You can back up all your stories locally to your device as a `.json` file. This means you always have a copy - even without internet. We're also working on support for exporting to `.txt` and `.md` (Markdown) formats soon, so you can easily move or read your stories anywhere.

8. Can I preview my images if I export locally?

Yes, but since images are stored securely in your own Google Drive, you'll need to be logged into Google Drive to view them inside StoryPad. We're exploring options to make image previews easier, including exporting them in ZIP or other formats in the future.
